Duncreggan House
was built in 1860 as the manor house in Blairmore. It has been
tastefully restored to reflect it's Victorian history with many of the
original Victorian features. The gardens are over an acre in size with a
feature waterfall that can be found in the lower garden at the bottom of
the 39 steps. The Peter Pan garden is located closest to the shore,
provides a two minute walk to the beach. A small burn runs along the
south west of the garden. The trees, flowers and shrubs are some of the
most unusual in the area - due to the gardens being a nature trail in
times gone by. The upper garden hosts what was the tennis courts, and
still provides for an excellent game of tennis or cricket. Ideal for
walking, fishing, golf all close by. The acre of garden has birds, red
squirrels and deer regularly present.

The Old Smiddy
was built in 1862 and was used as a blacksmiths shop until the middle of
the 1900's. There is a lot of history surrounding the place itself which
enjoys modern features as well as reminders of years gone by. The Old
Smiddy cottage is built over Ballagan burn where there used to be the
Old Smiddy workshop where there was a trap door and the cart wheels were
fired up and dropped down through this door to cool down - Until
recently the Old Smiddy cottage was used as a very successful B&B and
therefore has all the requirements requested by the Tourist
Board. Private parking is available and can easily accommodate a car and
boat if required. There is also a patio for guest use. The Old Smiddy
cottage is attached on to the main dwelling but is completely separate
in every other way
Located within
and forming part of the boundary of Scotland First National Park the
former blacksmiths cottage offers a very comfortable, well appointed and
modern facility - The cottage which is all in one level is situated
within Loch Lomond National Park and is only five/six minutes walk away
from Loch Lomond and all it has to offer, peace and quiet away from the
bustle of city life and for the more active holiday there is sailing,
golfing, fishing, water ski-ing, horse riding facilities and if you are
a hill walker there are plenty of mountains to climb. Various sporting
activities including shooting, canoeing, off road driving and quad
biking are available locally, details can be supplied on request |
