Our home dates from 1592 and we have kept, where possible, its original architecture of exposed beams, wafer bricks, stone window surrounds and rough-plastered walls. The small salon is very cosy with its log-burning open fire-place. The bedrooms give onto the garden at the back of the house, they are spacious, quiet and comfortable. Our garden is not overlooked and it has several terraces where you may relax in the sun or perhaps you could be tempted into a visit to the "trinquet" with Alex and Gilbert who will take great pleasure in showing you the intricacies of one of the Basque racquet game "la pelote" !!

 Les Maillets is a large traditional stone farmhouse over 100 years old with swimming pool, set in 5 acres of garden, meadow and woods and surrounded by vineyards and valleys yet only 20 minutes from Bergerac airport and 1 hour from Bordeaux. Situated on the borders of the Gironde, Lot et Garonne and Dordogne departments,  Les Maillets is ideally located for those wishing to sample the delights of the local wines of Saint Emilion, Cotes de Duras, Bergerac and Bordeaux.

In between the Gironde and the border of the Dordogne, near the vineyards of Saint Emilion, Cotes de Duras and Bergerac nestles Les Granges.  Set in the heart of the countryside in the Dordogne region, surrounded by orchards and fields of sunflowers, join us in our small complex of stone cottages.  Created from XVIIth century stone barns, converted by us to the very highest standard, with swimming pool, BBQ area and laundry room. Entry to your cottage is by a gated private patio with furniture. Each cottage has a kitchen/dining room (fully equipped), lounge with stone walls and exposed beams, TV all BBC channels, stairs to bedrooms and shower room/WC. Situated just south of the historic town of Ste. Foy la Grande (on the road between Bordeaux and Bergerac) we are perfectly sited to explore this beautiful region.  Whether your interest is in the local wines, the historic towns and villages, the regional food, the colourful markets or just recharging your batteries, we offer the very best of French country life.  All cottages are fully equipped and comfortably furnished with a homely atmosphere with beds made, a generous supply of hand and bath towels and limitless hot water.  All the luxuries to make life relaxing for your holiday. 

Les Granges is exclusively run and managed by us so you will always feel “at home”.  We are on hand to offer help and advice during your stay if needed. Nearby is the village of Les Leves with a bakery, post office, garage/tabac and local wine co-operative. The market town of Ste. Foy la Grande on the river Dordogne is 8kms away offering an excellent selection of restaurants and bars, plus shops, post office, banks and popular Saturday market.

Just 5 minutes drive is our local restaurant Le Relais – 5 courses for 11€. Only 15 minutes drive away is the large 18 hole golf of Les Vigiers with superb restaurant and tea room. There is a nice beach at Lac de Gurson or take a boat ride or canoe down the Dordogne from Ste. Foy. Ideal lighting for painting, cycling and fishing.
